Its getting to that time of year again and I am pleased to say that the Trent Valley Group [TVG] of the 7mm Narrow Gauge Association will be relieving the gloom of January 2026 with our annual modelling day.
Catering
With our on site cafe offering Bacon Butties, Cakes, Teas and Coffees I can’t why you would need to go elsewhere but nearby are pubs, a chippy and Tesco
Parking
There is free parking on site but it may get busy. Alternatives are the pub opposite (you may be obliged to have a pint) and time constrained parking in Tesco’s car park off the roundabout
Train
Get the train to Derby and then get a taxi or bus. Some event diaries will try to tell you to use Peartree station as the nearest by postcode. Don’t go there. Its got a very intermittent service and offers no options for onward travel to us.
Buses
You want “The Mickleover” operated by Trent Barton Buses. This link will get you the route map
They run at four an hour but alternate ones go round the Mickleover loop in different directions. The stop you want is Mickleover Tesco and, if I am reading the route map correctly whilst they’ll both get you there you want the Green one to come to us and the Blue to return to Derby to avoid the mystery tour of the estate.
Can I Help?
If you’ve read this and thought about coming along have a think about helping on the day. We are only a small group and natural attrition seems to be making us smaller and we could use some help on the day. You don’t have to be a skilled modeller to lug tables about before and after the event and putting your name down for half an hour as washer up for the kitchen would make you staff and get you in for free.
