The annual Trent Valley group open day takes place on the 18th January 2020 at:-
Our Lady of Lourdes Church Hall, 36 Uttoxeter Rd, Mickleover, Derby DE3 9GE
There will be the usual mix of demonstrations, layouts, trade and refreshments.
Open 10am (you’re welcome earlier but expect to be given a job helping set up) and it finishes about 4pm. Admission is £4
If you’ve not been to one of these events before (why not?) and are expecting a model railway exhibition, you’ll be disappointed! You will have a great day out though as these events are more about getting involved, having a go, seeing a demo or just having a good old gossip.
There will be a selection of layouts there on the day. As soon as I get some info I’ll add the details here. I may even bring my own layout again to show how little I have got done in a year (zilch so far!)
- Shropshire Minerals Light Railway – 0-16.5 – West Midlands Area Group of the 7mmNGA
- The Pipeyard – 0-16.5 – David Lenton
- Caanan Valley – On30 – John Aldridge
- New Sharon – On2 – Bob Harper
- 0-14 Taster Layout – 0-14 – Simon Jones
- Coxheath Sidings – 7mmSG – David Rae
- Black Drake Wharf – 7mmSG – Phil Traxson
- Gn15 – Jim English
There will be some trade present with a small version of the EDM Models stand (particularly if I bring my layout), the 7mm NGA sales stands and some other stuff. If I get more info it will appear here. Since the last show we’ve lost one of our stalwarts, Tim, to cancer and there may well be a sale of items with money towards a charity.
- 7mmNGA Association Modelling Goods
- 7mmNGA Association Publications
- Port Wynnstay
- EDM Models
- TVAG Second Hand Stand
- DC Loco Clinic – David Tillett
A key part of these events is the catering. This year sees a return to cake based catering with Liz returning after a year’s maternity break to lead the catering team. I should perhaps point out the cake is in addition to the usual bacon butties and lunch offerings. If Liz & Co fail to meet your culinary needs the shops are close by.
How to find us
To find us DE3 9GE will get your sat nav close but to finesse it were behind the petrol station and opposite the Nags Head pub.
As you can see on the map there are bus stops either side of the road. Bus Info will get you more detail but alternate buses go round the Mickleover village loop in opposite directions. Both will get you to us but the blue one is the more direct.
