In the image you can see the backscene project waiting for filler to harden in a room that could do with being a bit warmer. It\u2019s all still a bit too soft to risk moving any of it. The other end slides in a slot in the underside of the smokebox so it can slide along the slot as the bogie swivels.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ngtrains.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/pipe3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4540 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/ngtrains.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/pipe3-231x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"231\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ngtrains.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/pipe3-231x300.jpg 231w, https:\/\/ngtrains.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/pipe3.jpg 345w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 231px) 100vw, 231px\" \/><\/a>The pipe is inserted in the slot at one end as its shaped like a keyhole. Its supposed to limit the amount the bogie can drop if picked up by the body.<\/p>\n<p>It didn\u2019t which is why the sprung bearing got out and the UJ undid.<\/p>\n<p>The problem can be seen in the pipe image above. I&#8217;m hoping a few light taps will flatten the bent washer.<\/p>\n<p>A new turned washer that it s bit thicker will then be soldered to the back of the bent washer to reinforce it.<\/p>\n<p>The abrasive blast cabinet?\u00a0 These models often had some impenetrable lacquer applied and there is other paint and contamination on the part so my plan was to give it a rough time in the blaster so I am at least trying to solder to clean brass. Its whereabouts?
